Arena Commander

(Citizen Star News) - 2014-06-21 - Adding to our guide section: Best guide I've seen on how to join the Star Citizen Arena Commander alpha (which is probably a bit more confusing than it should be): Luetin09's How to Join the Alpha for $50 or less by picking up an Aurora MR or Aurora LN and an Arena Commander Pass.

Update 2014-08-21: There is now something called the Arena Commander Package. Which includes the Arena Commander Pass.

One part inspiration and one part some simple instructions on how to get signed up for the alpha, this video strikes a good balance between being interesting and useful.

(Citizen Star News) - 2014-06-09 - Tales of Citizens #15 is an interview with Travis Day. The Producer most recently in charge of getting Arena Commander v0.8 out. Travis is fast becoming a personal hero of mine after his work on the release and facing the angry hordes of eager (rabid?) Arena Demanders after each delay. (Summary link after the jump.)

Really great job on the interview guys, Travis talks in depth with a lot of the issues the Arena Commander seems to have, and the plans to fix them. Thank you to Travis for being so open about it.

(Citizen Star News) - 2014-06-04 - STLYoungblood gives us a quick introduction to missiles in Arena Commander:

(Citizen Star News) - 2014-06-04 - In what is presumably the beginning of a series, CIG has released official tutorial's for using Key Board and mouse for Star Citizen's Arena Commander pre-alpha v0.8.

Starting with flying:

And then there is a separate How to Fight video:

(Citizen Star News) - 2014-06-04 - In the dark hours of the night, after a difficult process and several delays... the Star Citizen Dog Fighting Module, now dubbed Arena Commander, launched.

You can get it here, or through your existing Star Citizen Launcher. Alpha access through previous pledge required or Arena Commander Pass required.

Version 0.8 is either pre-Alpha or Alpha (depending on who you ask) of a portion of the Star Citizen game. Expect it to be a little rough and there will be bugs (already a long list of known issues in the release notes).
